A LITTLE ABOUT LYNDA RICHARDSON

For over 20 years, Virginia-based wildlife and environmental photojournalist, Lynda Richardson, has been known for a “beyond the call of duty” effort she puts into each of her assignments. Her ability to capture wild subjects by combining unique perspectives with unusual techniques has earned her a global reputation in this competitive field.

Her work has taken her all over the United States, Central and South America, and Africa. Lynda Richardson was included as one of the top female outdoor photographers in Nature's Best Magazine and continues to prove herself on assignments for various publications and organizations such as Smithsonian, National Wildlife, The Nature Conservancy, and many others. Some of her corporate work has included companies such as Vulcan Materials Co. and BP/Amoco. Her photographs have been seen world-wide in various publications as well as on popular television shows such as "Jeopardy" and "Law & Order." Most recently, Lynda worked with her alma mater, the University of Mary Washington, to publish her first book, "University of Mary Washington, Moments in Time." It was released the fall of 2007 to rave reviews. Known for her entertaining photography workshops and lectures given to prestigious groups including the Explorer’s Club in New York, Lynda has also appeared in numerous television shows, radio programs (including NPR), magazines, and newpaper articles. Lynda has received numerous awards for her work including winnings in " Pictures of The Year" (POY), " Nature’s Best International Photography Competition," and the “Pro-Tour of Nature Photography.”

Lynda has lead trips to Tanzania, Peru, and Alaska for organizations such as The National Zoo and The Nature Conservancy. Not only is she taking commissions to photograph dogs, she is also taking commissions to PAINT them! If you are interested in having a memorable photograph or painting of your canine friend, call or e-mail Lynda right away. Stay tuned for further updates and more examples of my paintings canineportraits@lyndarichardson.comThis is Miss Grub, my first Jack Russell terrier (terror). She was a bit in-bred thus the large ears. Miss Grub was incredibly smart, very stuborn, and tough as nails. The bigger the dog, the more she wanted to fight it. She would try to steal food all the time and once even pulled on a table cloth nearly sending a chocolate cake to the floor. She could balance M & M's on her nose and would chase anything that moved particulalry holstien cows, deer, and squirrels. She survived spinal surgery and cancer. Miss Grub died just 2 months short of her 20th birthday 8 years ago. She was a really wonderful dog and I chose to memorialize her in this painting.
